Half-Masked: 004-Crazy With A Capital NUTS

This marked the first appearance of the Pitbull-Bear who, if I could legitimately call anything about my comic “popular”, he would be the most “popular” character of Half-Masked. At least, according to the continued reactions towards him I got from the 2 or 3 forums I post this comic on.

I got the idea for this strip when I thought someone said “Pitbull-Bear” when talking about the ban on Pitbulls in Ontario a few years back. Which, might I add, is retarded. To believe that an entire breed of dog is a menace to society is to admit a complete lack of knowledge on animals, or their relationship with humans. Did it not occur to Parliament that the reason these dogs kept attacking people might have been due to how they were raised/treated by their owners? It also ignores a lot of the owners of the breed who have never had these problems with their animal before, and whose canine companions don’t show any signs of murderous, primal rage. Maybe because they don’t beat them and train them to be vicious, mobile weaponry? If you heard about a series of sex assaults, would you petition for a ban on men?

Okay, maybe Lifetime would…

The first few sprite comics in the archives were made for a contest for web domain hosting. It was called the “Comictition”, hosted by a feller named “Christoph”. It was way too much fun. It’s lost from the internet now, which is too bad, because the other contestant’s supplied some pretty fun stuff.

The web domain closed two days after I “won” it(3rd place overall, but the 1st and 2nd-place winners declined the prize, since they just entered for fun and already had sites of their own). Hell, I’d like to start up a Comictition myself and see what today’s spriters could do. It wasn’t just sprite comics that had to be made, I also remember a nifty writing contest. I’m also probably the only one who even remembers all this…
