Half-Masked

This is one of the comics that, at least judging from the reactions I’ve read, that it’s too crowded with text, the pacing is jumbled and detrimental to the punchline, that it’s trying to tell too many jokes all at once, etc. I get all that. They’re all valid points. I’ll even add a complaint of my own on top of that.

Al and May came out looking very strange in the 2nd panel. =/

Nonetheless, for some inexplicable reason, I still like this one. Maybe because it does speak to my near masochistic tendency to perform in rituals I find repulsive(Halo 2, Final Fantasy XII), even when I know they’re not going to be amusing or beneficial to me in any way. Time and again, I somehow convince myself that maybe, just this once, things will be different. My expectations are rarely met, but then, that’s why they are called “unreasonable“.
